On the same day I encountered the troll, I also encountered someone very inspirational. Funny the dualities that exist in life. If you haven’t used Lockdown as a time to virtually network, you are missing out. Many of you have probably heard of Bumble as a dating app. What you might not know is that it has a friendship version too. I have no shame in saying that, with the social restrictions of Lockdown, I have managed to meet some new and wonderful people this way.
So I walk into the park for a socially distanced walk with a lady who stands there, well dressed, glamorous pair of sunglasses on and a beaming smile. As we began to walk and talk under a canopy of white Spring blossoms, I came to learn more about her, and I truly felt myself inspired. Sara (not her real name) is the definition of what I’d want to be in 5 years. Someone who has always worked for herself, a true self-made success.
She started by setting up her own cake making business in her early twenties and did everything required for the running of the business herself, including the marketing. She soon realized that she had got to a point where she liked the marketing side of the business better and saw more potential there for building a successful career that gave her the quality of life that she wanted.
